Hot Weather has come to Huntsville!

Hola!

I had such a great week this week! Living in Huntsville is so much fun – there are so many things to do here!! The hot weather has most definitely arrived once again and all missionaries know what that means – a lot of sweat lines and watch tans!

We had a really cool experience this week when we went to the hospital to give a blessing to an individual in the Spanish-speaking Branch where I am serving. Right around mid-day all four of the Elders in the Spanish branch here met up and jumped in the car to run over to the Huntsville Hospital to give a blessing to a lady. On the way there, we got into a little bit of a discussion about church history and how at one time, black males were unable to receive the priesthood. The conversation turned into an argument between the four of us and we were a little bit bothered with each other when we exited the car to walk toward the hospital. As we were about to enter the front doors of the hospital, a lady stopped us! She came up to us and asked if we were missionaries for the LDS church.

She then proceeded to introduce herself and told us a brief story about where she was from and that she lived for a period of time in France and that she met some missionaries there that she developed a great relationship with. She had quite an interesting story. Then, in a super random way she changed the subject from describing her past to mentioning that she knew the church had some controversy with the public regarding blacks and the priesthood, but that it is in the past now and doesn’t matter at all. We all thought: huh?? We were just talking about this in the car and she gave us the answer to our argument – it doesn’t matter! And then she continued on with her story without skipping a beat and not attempting to tie her comments together. We thought it was so weird, but most definitely an answer to our prayers. I think of it as a little wink from God. These kinds of experiences happen a lot on my mission. There have just been too many experiences that are too coincidental! I am so grateful for all the experiences that I am having and all of the wonderful people I am meeting. I hope everybody has a wonderful week!

Love,

Elder Neser
